Deacon 7228 is a viscous paste sealant designed for use on threaded fittings, flanges and gasket applications ranging from negative 25 to 450 degrees Fahrenheit, up to 10,000 psi. It is a slow drying, flexible setting paste that changes to a pliable, nonhardening film. Deacon 7228 improves reliability, extends gasket life and stops leakage.

Once applied, Deacon 7228 develops a semi-flexible seal by solvent evaporation. Cure times will vary based on temperature, humidity and thickness.

Typical applications include cover plates, metal-to-metal joints, NPT connections, valve cover gaskets, compressors, hose connections and pump casings.

In the oil and gas industry, Deacon 7228 can be used offshore to seal paper gaskets on wellhead flanges as well as the flanges coming off of pumps. Onshore, it has been used up to 750 degrees Fahrenheit as a thread sealant during the unique process of steam assisted gravity drainage (SAG-D). Deacon 7228 is also used to seal the threads on mud motors in downhole drilling operations where the product must remain pliable so it can be removed without causing damage.

The product retains its effective properties in contact with heat transfer fluids, natural gas, water, sour service fuel gas, motor oil, gasoline, steam, ethylene glycol, various hydrocarbon gases, sea water and many other chemical processes.

For over 30 years, Deacon has been the industry-leading manufacturer of sealants and injectable packings for various applications up to 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit. The extensive product line is formulated to meet the needs of diverse industries around the world.
